Reflections

All had blessings this year.  Some had losses.  Others had health challenges.  Our calling is not to be encumbered by those things behind us, but to press on in the spiritual race for the heavenly prize.  If we think we have arrived spiritually, it is a positive indicator that we have not!

Completing the Christmas Story from Luke:  Christ was born as a human Jewish boy under the covenant.

  • verse 21 - He was circumcised on the 8th day and named on Jesus

  • verse 21 - When the purification days were completed He was presented to the Lord.

    • Leviticus 12 - Days of purification for a son were 40 and for a daughter 80.

    • verse 24 - An offering of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons was for poorer people.

  • verses 25-30 - The Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon that he would not see death before seeing the savior.

  • verses 36-38 - The prophetess Anna was one of the faithful who was looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.  She gave thanks for the redeemer.

Incarnation:

  • The incarnation is Christ come in the flesh.  It is the Christmas Story.  It is the Christmas Spirit.

  • Belief in the incarnation is the test question to discern false prophets.  "By this you know the Spirit of God:  every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God."  I John 4:2-3  Know how to discern.

Thoughtful comment:  The space between every molecule is filled with God.
