Old Testament Hints of Resurrection

Examples of death to life.

  • Genesis 22:1-14 - Abraham went to the land of Moriah to offer his son as a sacrifice, as directed by God.  Abraham knowing this believed God would provide because in verse 5 he says "I and the boy will return" indicating that God would restore life.

  • I Kings 17:17-24 - Elijah raises the widow's son, who was dead, to life again.

  • II Kings 4:18-37 - Elisha brings the Shunammite's son, who was dead, back to life.

In the above three accounts each was an only son.  Later in history God offered up His only Son.
