Work

This Sunday is labor day weekend.  At the end of the six days of creation God rested on the seventh day.  Much of the work of creation was God speaking it into existence.  Noteworthy is that when He made man He formed him out of the dust of the earth and blew into him the breath of life.

• The concept of work is noted throughout the scriptures.
  1.  Adam became caretaker of creation.
  2.  Moses is recorded as having finished the work of building the tabernacle in Exodus 40:33
  3.  In Nehemiah 4:6 we learn that the people had a mind to work and built the wall.
  4.  Jesus in His High Priestly Prayer states that he has finished the work that God gave him to do.  John 17:4

• We are reminded that work is good and we should do it well.  Don't cheat you employer.

• Ecclesiastes 9:10 - Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

• Colossians 3:23 - And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.
