Get Ready for Supper

Matthew 22:1-14, 25:1-13

The marriage scene in Matthew 22 and the parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25 are symbolisms of the marriage feast of the lamb.  There were those who refused to come such as the Jewish leaders.  The offer of salvation was extended to the gentiles, those from the streets.

Other Comments:

  • The invitation to come is the result of love.  God wants his house full.

  • The absence of a wedding garment in Matthew 22:11-14 was an example of one who refused to put it on or possible snuck in some other way.  They apparently responded but were not transformed.  Either way when found and confronted the results final.  Ephesians 4:20-24

  • In the parable of the Ten Virgins the sleep may refer to those who have died and are waiting for the resurrection.  Preparedness takes place before death and after death there is no transfer of preparedness.

  • It is a reminder that the Christian life requires work.

  • Do not weary, the marriage feast is a long time in coming.

Love is a way to be ready for the supper; Christ's return
