Forgiveness, Fellowship, and Faith

Psalm 51:7-10, John 21:1-19, I Corinthians 15:51-58, Luke 23:32-43

Jesus set the ultimate example of forgiveness.  When not forgiven we are out of fellowship with God. When we are in fellowship with God what does admonition given to the Apostle Peter in John 21:15-19 to 'feed my sheep' look like for us.  Does our faith make us active.

Additional Comments:

  • The gospel of Luke is the only gospel to record the conversation that took place between the two criminals crucified with Jesus while on the cross.  Luke 23:32-43.  We see the sensitivity of Jesus and willingness and readiness to forgive.

  • We see in Psalm 51:7-10 King David's description of what it is like to be out of fellowship with God because of his sin with Bathsheba and his desire to be reunited in fellowship once again with God.

  • Jesus is the one who spans the gap between sin and forgiveness.  Because of him we can have a restored relationship with God.  Thank you Lord for your willingness to do that.
