The book of
Genesis is the story of the beginning; not really meant to be scientific
text as we think of science. God worked and made order out of the
earth that was without form and void. It might be said that He made
order out of chaos. What He did pointed toward the creation of man.
-
Genesis
1:26-31 - (vs:26) God gave man dominion over every living thing that
moves on the earth.
(vs:29) God also gave every plant yielding seed and trees with seed
and fruit.
-
Genesis
2:15-17 - (vs:15) God put man in the garden to work it and keep it.
(vs:17) Man could eat of every tree in the garden except the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil.
(vs:18) God saw the need to make a helper for the man he
created. (vs:22) Therefore he made women to be the helper for
man.
-
In all
of this it was the role of humans (man and woman, Adam and Eve) to
work with God under His authority. No where was man given
authority over other men. It was God who decided what was good
and the role for man. Man must decide, will he work under God's
authority.
-
Genesis
3:1-6 - (v:6 ) Both the man and the
woman make the decision to violate
God's prohibition against eating from the tree of the knowledge of
good and evil. In so doing they made the decision not to work
with God under his authority.
-
Therefore
the age of human corruption began and deterioration started.
-
What
will God do about it?
-
Jesus
comes. He shows us a better way to live and provides an
eventual way back through salvation for those who accept Him as Lord
and Savior of their life.
-
Revelation
21:5 - making all things new is not necessarily new things.
The good of creation will remain. The bad that entered creation
at the fall will be left behind. This is a mystery.
Similar to the beginning when Spirit moved upon the face of the deep
and order was made out of chaos.
-
So what
sort of work might the redeemed be doing in eternity? Could it
be like Adam and Eve when they worked under the authority of God
before the fall to be a blessing to Him?
