Truths to be Etched in Your Mind

Exodus 20:1-17, Colossians 1:16-17, John 3:16, James 3:5-10

The first truth to be etched in the mind is 'God is the I AM'.  He can create, both visible and invisible, is responsible for those in leadership positions, and holds all things together.  The second truth is that Jesus is God's only son and Jesus is the only way to the Father.  The final truth in today's message was Guard you Tongue.  

Additional Comments on 'God is the I AM':

• One way to teach some of the attributes of God to the young is in the meal Prayer - God is great God is good let us thank Him for our food by His hand we all are fed give us Lord our daily bread.  Amen

• We need to be careful how caught up we become in societal issues or movement.  Regarding Global Warming:  the data is pretty factual and it doesn't help our testimony to deny it.  The cause, population increase, is a theory and shouldn't be taken as fact.  The idea that man is supreme violates the truth that God is the 'I AM'.  Realize that and don't become entangled.

Additional Comments on Jesus is God's only son and Jesus is the only way to the Father:

• Don't be embarrassed or squeezed into this world's mold of pluralism.  Loving ask questions and you will discover that at the core of most movements, ideologies, and religions there are fundament exclusive positions.

Additional Comments on Guard your tongue:

• What the tongue says represents what the mind is thinking.  Scripture tells us that no man can tame it.

• Reread James 3:5-10  and read Colossians 1:16-17.  It sates the issue plainly.

• The prevalence of foul language and swearing in society is a vivid indicator of one having an exalted opinion of themselves.

• Regarding swearing an oath:  remember, you have the option of simply affirming an oath rather than swearing an oath.  Let your yes be yes and your no be no.  Read Matthew 5:34-37.
