Resurrected Bodies

Luke 16:19-31, Ephesians 4:1-10, II Corinthians 12:1-6

The account in scriptures of the rich man and Lazarus leaves us with some questions as well as some certainties.  One of the questions would be what does a resurrected body look like.  With regards to the certainties we believe they are true today as they have been throughout all ages.  With regards to the question of the resurrected bodies we know they are different then our present bodies which decay away.  Resurrected bodies continue forever.

Certainties:

  • When we die we go to one of two places.  Different words can be used to describe the two places.  One such pair would be bliss vs. torment.  We know from our account in scripture that choice is fixed, that there is a great divide or chasm between them and one can not cross over from one side to the other.  You can't go back and forth.

  • Another interesting characteristic (certainty) we learn is the nature man's mind.  The account tells of the request of someone from the dead going back to change the mind of the living.  The response is that if Moses and the prophets were not sufficient to set ones mind aright, someone coming back from the dead would not make any difference.  In other words, what we have today with the scriptures and the nature of created man is all that is necessary for one to realize their sinful nature and their need of a savior.  Jesus is the one and only savior
