The Women at the Well

John 4:4-26-42

Jesus was breaking prejudices.  With discernment we share Christ with those we don't nicely identify with.  We need to demonstrate love not fear.  The women at the  well went from a skeptic to a evangelist.  Nicodemus went from a night visitor to helping with the burial of Jesus.

Additional Comments on 'God is the I AM':

• Notice Jesus' humanity as he confronts the women at the well.  She response by calling him out; how can you ask me for a drink.

• His knowledge of her life got her attention.  Notice he exposes but does not drill in on it.

• They continue there discussion about worship.  Jesus response leads to what real worship is:  it is about spirit and truth.

• Yes she went back to the town and told the people.  Many from the town believed because of her words.  However, after spending two days with the people many more believed, all because of the words of Jesus.

We are the wells.  It is the spirit within that cause the flow of living water.
