Mother's Day Because of Covid-19, and limitations on visiting, we must still fine ways to honor our mothers. Proverbs 31, which addresses a wife of noble character is not meant to be a standard of comparison but a model. Details are not the main point. Being of a godly character is the main point. The heart of Mother's Day is Proverbs 31:28. "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:" Notice that her husband calls her blessed and praises her. He sets an example. The children absorb the father's attitude of honoring their mother. She is praised not just because of her domestic skills but because of her wisdom. The family benefits because of her wisdom. Family is God's plan, man and wife are parents to children. The roles of husband and wife and not rigid stereo styles or roles but are complementary parts that mesh together. |
