A Mighty Fortress...... Today's message was a history lesson on the hymn 'A Mighty Fortress is our God'. It is the number one song in popular hymns. It's biblical reference is Psalm 46 where the themes are expressed. The hymn was written by Martin Luther somewhere between 1527 and 1529. Martin Luther is the founder of what we know as the Lutheran Church. He left his role in the predominate church of his day over many issues. One of his primary disagreements was over the selling of indulgences for the forgiveness sins. Sins are only forgiven through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
