John 3

John 3:1-36, Number 21:4-9

Much of the gospel of John is conversational in nature.  The account of Nicodemus and Jesus is an example.  Nicodemus had many questions.  Jesus uses the example of the wind to help explain how the spirit moves.  The spirit is the  impetus that causes one to act by faith and believe.  The Number 21:4-9 account of people looking at the bronze serpent after being bitten resulted in them living, not because there was some medicinal valve in the serpent, but because by faith they looked and believe.  It was the act of faith that resulted in them living rather than dying..
