Continuation
of the Gospel
of John - John the Baptist was a man who understood the calling on his life. Early years of his life were spent in the dessert. It was a preparation for his ultimate mission of preparing for the coming of Jesus, the Lamb of God. John's preaching and teaching was a message of repentance. John not only preached a message of repentance but he baptized. It was a baptism of repentance. He was not a man to mince words. When he saw Jesus and Jesus requested that he also be baptized he resisted, thinking it inappropriate and unnecessary for him to baptize Jesus. However, after Jesus said it needed to be he yielded. From that moment on Jesus' ministry increases and John's begins to fade. Jesus' comment about John was that there was never a better man born of women then John the Baptist. The question to leave you with is this. Do we like John live life with a purpose?
