Blindness

John 9:1-41, 2 Kings 5:1-17

This account in the book of John is about more than just the healing of the man born blind.  Yes, the blind man's blindness was bad, but the spiritual blindness of those who would discredit Jesus was much worst.  Put another way, spiritual blindness effect all of life not just physical sight.  It is interesting to note that in 2 Kings 5:1-17 Naaman had to do something to be cleansed of his leprosy.  In John 9:1-41 the blind man had to do something to receive his sight

Characteristics of the Shepherd and the sheep:

  • The Good Shepherd knows the sheep.

  • The Good Shepherd leads by example.

  • The Good Shepherd is not a hireling or a fill in.

  • The Sheep knows the voice of the master.

  • The Sheep don't like the voice of a stranger or the unfamiliar.

  • The Sheep need to obey the voice of the master and the Holy Spirit.

John 10:14 is simple and profound.  It is the truth.  Listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd.  He leads to green pastures.
