The Death of Lazarus

Psalm 23, John 11: 1-44, I Corinthians 15:1-58

Life and death are both mysteries.  Death takes both the young and the old.  We have three accounts of Jesus raising individuals from the dead.  They are the 12 year old daughter of Jairus a synagogue ruler, the son of the widow at Nain, and Lazarus the brother of Mary and Martha.  In each case they came back in the same body as before death which meant they would die again.  Mark 5:21-43 - Luke 7:11-17 - John 11:28-44

When Christ rose from the dead on the first day of the week he did NOT reenter his former body but became a new body or a spiritual body.  Christ has become the fristfruits of those who have died.  It is a mystery.  Yet all of us will be raised from the dead and take on a body that is not of corruption or the dust of the earth.
