John 4:43 - 5:15

John 4:43 - 5:15

The conclusion to the story of the women at the well was that many believed after hearing Jesus speak in first person.  After leaving Samaria he continued on to Galilee.  Here he met an official who wanted Jesus to come down to his place to heal his son who was ill to the point of death. Jesus' response to the request was unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.  However, the official persisted in his request to which Jesus responded the second time, "Go; your son will live."

The man believed and headed home.  On the way he met one of his servants who informed he that the son was getting better.  Upon inquiry he realized that the son start to get better at the exact time that Jesus told him to Go.  Again the man believed but this time it was belief that led to sharing with his household.

In chapter five we see Jesus back at Jerusalem at a place called the Sheep Gate, a pool.  At the pool there layed a number of invalids.  Here he met a man who had been there for thirty eight years and was apparently limited in mobility.  Jesus asked him if he wanted to be healed.  He explained that there was no to put him in water when it was stirred by an angel but someone else would get there first and be healed.  He not only had his infirmity but no friend to help.  Jesus told him to take up his bed and walk.  That was good part but it also started a problem.  To the Jews this man was now working on the Sabbath.  He didn't know who healed him at first but after finding out he report to the Jews that it was Jesus.
