Pressing On

I Corinthians 2:1-5

When we leave grace behind we become mean, full of pride, and works centered.  Grace comes to people who give up on trying in their own strength.  To obtain the gift of grace you must be like the parable of the hidden treasure or pearl in Matthew 13:44-46; you give up everything to obtain the kingdom.  That is the price to obtain grace?

The Price of Grace - Philippians 3:7-14:

  1. vs 7 - any gain I had is relinquished as loss.

  2. vs 8 - everything is counted as loss - rubbish

  3. vs 9 - righteous doesn't come from self - it come through Christ and is from God and depends on faith

  4. vs 10-11 Paul longs to experience the resurrection.  He doesn't presume how the resurrection occurs.  It is just somehow one is resurrected from the dead.

  5. vs 12-14 The Apostle has not arrived.  He continues to press on.  The walk by grace is not casual.  One continues to press on for the goal..

Summary:  Let go of the garbage.  Buy the field.  Guard against complacency.  Press on for the prize today.  Putting off until tomorrow demeans today.
