Lessons From the Fig Tree

Luke 13:6-9, 2 Corinthians 13:5

The owner of the vineyard expected that the fig tree would bear fruit.  His birds eye view led him to conclude that it was time to cut it down.  However, the caretaker had a ground level view and ask for one more year to dig and fertilize the tree to hopefully stimulate the production of figs.

Points to Ponder:

  • Pruning is a beneficial stress.

  • Ask God what pruning and fertilizing is needed in my life.

  • Examine yourself.  Evaluate the fig trees in your life.

  • As we step into the new year we can chose to have hope like the vineyard caretaker.

  • We can chose to nurture others and share Christ's love with them.
