Modesto Manifesto

The Modesto Manifesto refers to a time in the early years of Billy Graham's Evangelistic meetings.  It was 1948, when a set accountability standards became their guidelines so that the ministry maintained a high level of integrity.  These standards included:

  • That each man on the team would never be alone with a woman other than his wife unless other people were present.
  • Issues regarding money.
  • Use official estimates of crowd sizes.
  • etc.
